The Rocky Mountain Horse breed originated in Eastern Kentucky in the late 1800s through the breeding of a legendary gaited stallion from the Rocky Mountain region to mares from the Appalachian region of Kentucky, almost a hundred years before a formal registry for the breed was created.
We purchased Fury because he possessed the traits the Rocky Mountain Horse is known for. When he proved he would pass his gait, conformation, beauty, temperament, athleticism and intelligence on to his offspring, we decided to keep him as our herd sire. We love to see how his offspring have made their owners happy.
The Rocky Mountain Horse is a small heritage breed recognized by the Livestock Conservancy as threatened due to the size of the breed and the number of foals produced each year. Close attention to maintaining diverse blood lines and monitoring for hereditary health concerns is very important to the long term well-being of our breed.
We came to the breed hoping to find great horses to trail ride. We found that and much more. We met great trainers and owners who helped us learn and became our advisors and friends. We used what they had taught us and began to enjoy great success in the show ring with our own Rocky Mountain Horses.
