We desire to promote this heritage breed through the production and sales of animals representative of the breed's historic type which we first learned of through personal observations of Rocky Mountain Horses in Eastern Kentucky in 2002. Our breeding philosophy is to breed for sound conformation, correct gait, gentle temperament, athletic potential and intelligence. We believe these characteristics are key to maintaining the long term health of each animal and the maintenance of this breed into the future.
We selectively chose our breeding stallion based on these goals and our brood mares have, also, always been carefully chosen for their complementary and diverse genetic lines, dispositions, conformation and abilities. We only produce a couple of foals each year with the goal of conserving traditional Rocky Mountain Horse breed characteristics through successive generations. Fury has been crossed with a wide variety of Rocky Mountain mares over the past 12 years and has been proven to pass on these characteristics consistently. Fury's offspring are pleasing their owners on the trail, in the show ring, in Endurance events and in other disciplines as well.
We do contract Fury for outside breedings, by private treaty only. The first step is to evaluate a prospective mate using the same criteria that we have used to choose our own mares. Many mare owners choose to breed at pasture. Fury stands in Kentucky and is kept in a natural setting with mares and foals (his own and others), but AI, cooled shipped semen and hand breeding are available. Derick Tipton of Tipton Mountain Horses in Stanton KY manages Fury's breedings and must be contacted regarding mare care and arrangements for breeding once a contract is in place.
